Cultural Craft for kids: Thanksgiving turkey napkin holder

Get the kids involved with Thanksgiving prep with this fun turkey napkin ring craft!


  • Brown felt for the Turkey body and paper for the stencil
  • 10 colored silk ribbons for the feathers, 4 inches long
  • Orange and red construction for beak and wattle 
  • Googly eyes
  • Hot glue gun or tacky glue


To make the turkey stencil, draw a figure 8 on some card stock or paper and cut it out. Trace the bottom circle of the figure 8 and cut that out as well.

1 Turkey

Use the stencil to cut out the shapes on the felt. Also cut out a strip of the felt that is 2 inches wide and about 7.5 inches long.

2 Turkey

Fold the pieces of ribbon in half and glue them in the middle of the single brown felt circle.

3 Turkey

The figure 8 piece of felt will be the front of the turkey. Glue the circle to the figure 8 piece and make sure the ribbons are between the pieces.

4 Turkey

Glue the ends of the felt strip together.

5 turkey

Glue the ring on the back of the turkey.

6 Turkey

Cut out a little triangle for the beak and an S-shape for the wattle. Glue googly eyes, wattle and beak to the front piece. Make one for each guest. Set around the dining table and enjoy your Thanksgiving!
