When the Dye family of Boulder, Colorado welcomed Swiss au pair Livia into their lives in 2012, they expected she would bond with their two young girls Ainsley and Brenna. They had no idea they’d become so close that years later, at Livia’s wedding in Switzerland, Ainsley and Brenna would have the honor of being her flower girls!
Livia and her fiancé at the time, Christian, visited the Dye family the fall before their wedding – it was a reunion filled with love and joy, made even more joyous by the special gifts Livia brought for the girls. She presented them with little boxes that had necklaces inside, along with a note that read “To the only girls who can be cuter than me: Will you be my flower girls?”
Ainsley and Brenna jumped up and down with excitement! They accepted immediately, and the family went to work making plans to visit Switzerland for the wedding of their beloved former au pair. The trip was a success – filled with visits to local landmarks, lots of delicious Swiss chocolate and of course, a beautiful wedding.
Now, the bonds that were built between Livia and the Dye family during their year and a half together on the au pair program have only become stronger. The Dye family will always have an extra special place in Livia’s heart, just as Livia will always have an extra special place in theirs.
