Travel Operations Coordinator

Cambridge-1 Education Street

Travel Operations CoordinatorCultural Care Au PairCambridge, MA USA

About Cultural Care:

At Cultural Care Au Pair, we believe that cultural exchange has the power to make the world a more welcoming, understanding, and open place. We build global families by bringing together international visitors with American host families—providing meaningful childcare for families, an unforgettable year in America for au pairs, and a culturally enriching experience for both parties.

We are proud to be the largest and most experienced au pair organization in the world, having successfully placed more than 120,000 au pairs into welcoming American homes since 1989. Our program is strictly regulated, and our dedicated staff all over the world work together to ensure each participant has the experience of a lifetime.

Here at Cultural Care, we are a team of problem-solvers, relationship-builders, and innovators who are constantly thinking about how we can improve our program experience, respond to micro- and macro-level challenges, and stay relevant to our global audiences.

About the role:

We are looking to expand our US based travel team.  Along with your teammates, you will be responsible for ensuring that thousands of travelers get WHERE they need to be WHEN they need to be there.  You’ll ensure that they do so safely, efficiently, and comfortably.  All the while, you’ll execute upon a tight communications strategy to ensure all stakeholders are kept up-to-date during constantly evolving situations.  If you LOVE solving puzzles, WOWing customers, and learning new things---you’ll have a blast.  There’s always something new to learn and experience, and you’ll be a critical piece of the engine behind this successful program.

This is an amazing opportunity to not only learn about this important cultural exchange program, but to also learn everything  there is to know about the airline industry.  Ever wonder what your gate agent is furiously typing into their computer when you check in at the airport?  Prepare to learn!

Some things about you…

  • Demonstrated experience in customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Initiative to start, develop and execute projects to make a meaningful impact
  • You learn new systems quickly and are a logical thinker with strong technical skills
  • The ability to be a natural motivator, bringing passion and enthusiasm to a team
  • 2-5 years of work experience, preferably in customer service or travel logistics
  • A keen eye for driving process improvements that promote customer satisfaction
  • Innovative problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Strong adaptability, flexibility, and resourcefulness

Some nitty gritty:

Once you learn the ropes, you will be invited to travel and meet co-workers around the globe. Sometimes we celebrate hitting goals and honoring overseas visitors with evening dinners and events. We also have opportunities to dress up like superheroes and 90’s Rockstars, and attend Disco-themed parties. If you have a problem with this, you should think twice before applying. Our “over-the-top” culture permeates everything we do.

A few of our benefits & perks:

  • Market-leading health insurance options
  • 3 weeks paid vacation (1st year), followed by 4 weeks (2nd year)
  • 25% company match for your 401(k) contributions with Fidelity
  • Comprehensive training and professional development
  • Sunny open-concept office space
  • Company match of your charitable contributions (up to $500 per year)
  • Complimentary in-house language and fitness classes

Here at Cultural Care, we are a team of problem-solvers, relationship-builders, and innovators who are constantly thinking about how we can improve our program experience, respond to micro- and macro-level challenges, and stay relevant to our global audiences.

Overview

Cultural Care Au Pair is seeking an innovative and experienced Director to lead our training school. Each year we welcome thousands of au pairs to the United States and their first stop is with us at the Au Pair Training School. This is the one place that all au pairs come prior to meeting their host families.

During each au pair’s welcome and training week, we focus on the following:

  • Ensure that they continue to feel excited, energized and supported as they transition from their home country to the Unites States and ultimately their host family. They should leave the school feeling confident and knowledgeable about all the resources available to them to have a very successful and meaningful year.
  • To overcome any jet lag or travel related hang-ups (delayed flights, lost luggage, travel documentation).
  • To learn important information related to child safety and communication and to achieve individual certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • To meet peers who are about to embark on the same exciting journey. Building connections prior to departing the Training School allows the au pairs to build a support network and maybe even a new lifelong friend.

 Requirements

  • Experience in a leadership role with staff management experience (5+ years)
  • Champion of cross-cultural communication and exchange
  • Highly motivated leader who can pivot quickly among daily priorities
  • Ability to wear many hats and maintain a calming presence even when under pressure
  • Strong commitment to service and quality to our au pairs, vendors, teachers and staff
  • Ability to guide, develop, inspire and motivate teams
  • Creative problem solver

As the Director, you will:

Be an inspirational, fun, forward thinking and dynamic leader for the team

Ensure that au pairs are receiving first class services and classroom content based on Cultural Care Au Pairs commitments and guarantees that we are in full compliance with the Department of State Regulations.

Ensure that all staff are empowered in their positions and continually developed so that they can deliver a positive experience to every au pair.

Make sure that the operational elements of the school run like a well-oiled machine.  This includes dining, room assignment, luggage storage, key issue and turn in, linen services, airport shuttles, bus operations, 24-hour emergency operations, health issues, teacher and classroom scheduling, and much more.

Manage Facilities. Even though we rent space—you will still be in charge of making it look great and ensure that everything works correctly.

Occasionally, speak with our other customer --- the host family. From time to time, a host family will have a question or complaint about the school.

Be a creative problem solver! Running a 24-hour operation with hundreds of au pairs, things can go wrong and often they do – it will be up to you and your team to solve big and small problems every day.

Work with a diverse set of colleagues from around the world. While you are leading the school in New York you will be supported by our headquarters in Boston and Zurich and will interact domestically with teams in the US as well as with colleagues in 20+ countries that recruit and prepare our au pairs.

If this sounds like the perfect role for you, contact us today. We can’t wait to meet you!

Meet Jenn – a former School Director who had this to say about her time leading the school:

“Welcoming our au pairs each week is a gift. You are a part of a young person’s big adventure! You are a small piece – but the first impression. There is no other professional experience that provides you with this level of satisfaction, challenge, appreciation, unpredictable and invaluable management experience. It remains a time in my life that I most often refer back to and use within my professional and personal development.”

- Jenn Guarracino, previous School Director, currently our National Director of Training
