Inclement weather can happen anytime and may affect your au pair’s travel. Please rest assured that we are here to help and have procedures in place. All au pairs have been briefed on the best steps to take should they encounter delays/cancellations and we will be here to support them every step of the way.

What if my au pair’s flight is….

Delayed

Au pairs are instructed to:

In the case of a weather cancellation, the airline is responsible for rebooking passengers on another flight. It is in the au pairs’ best interest to remain at the airport until they have a new flight scheduled. The agents who are at the airport have the best knowledge of local weather conditions and the next flights leaving the airport.

Many times, weather-related cancellations on arrival day will result in a flight being rebooked by the airline for the next day.  If the new flight has a scheduled departure that is more than 72 hours after the initially scheduled flight, Cultural Care will look into rebooking the au pair.

Hotels/Meals/Transportation

Since airlines typically do not provide overnight accommodations when flights are cancelled due to weather, we will, of course, ensure they have a hotel for the night as well as organized transportation to and from the airport.  We will also work with the au pairs to ensure that they have access to meals.
